Catalogue of the Aplied arts & design collection
Introduction
The VBVR-design collection reflects Adriaan van Ravesteijn and Geert van Beijeren's dealings with art in their own living environment. Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to visit them could have seen that they also had a great interest and love for crafts and design, not only in the gallery but also in the everyday living environment. Not necessarily as collectibles but mainly as utilitarian objects, from coffee cups, chairs, lamps, vases, cabinets, and letter openers.
Museum destinations were also sought for all these objects. The majority were donated to the Rijksmuseum Twenthe and between about 2000 and 2009 inventoried and described by Ton Geerts, and later some descriptions of items also completed and corrected by Rob Driessen. A small selection of items was donated to the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Kunstmuseum in The Hague.
A concise description of objects was chosen for this publication. The short descriptions include the Rijksmuseum inventory numbers, e.g. RMT 5736 and the collection of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (BVB V-numbers)
All objects are arranged alphabetically by artist or factory name and then chronologically.
A selection of the Rijksmuseum Twenthe collection was on display at the exhibition: From Andries Copier to Lawrence Weiner (24 June - 10 September 2006) in the Rijksmuseum Twenthe, Enschede
