RKD STUDIES

Notes to the catalogue

The Art & Project/Depot VBVR collection consists of more then 1500 works of art: sculpture, paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, installations and conceptual 'ideas'. In addition to this extensive fine art collection, it also includes many objects of applied art and design described here in a separate, concise catalogue.

This catalogue is arranged alphabetically by the artist's name. Works of art are then arranged chronologically, regardless of the medium (painting, drawing, print, etc.) in which they were made. All works are from the Art & Project/Depot VBVR-collection, so this provenance is not further mentoined in the description.

All artworks are described as follows:
Artist's name (place of birth, year of birth - place of death, year of death)
Title of artwork, year of creation
Technique, dimensions in centimetres (height first, then width)
Inscriptions

Provenance / Exhibitions
Not all artworks are well documented. Origins of works of art (purchases, donations, etc.) have been identified on the basis of the document sheets present in the archive under G. Collection Art & Project /Depot VBVR, loans and donations . Of the Art & Project exhibitions or gallery presentations, not all the works exhibited there could be traced with certainty. Works of art were donated by artists, purchased by Van Ravesteijn and Van Beijeren directly from the artist (including at their own exhibitions) or bought through art dealers or at auctions.

Literature
Some literature data are linked to the RKD's Library database. More literature can be found in the Bibliography.
